Ending the LTC Income Calculation Activity

It’s time for you to apply the policy you have just learned.  Complete the activity found on the handout Ending LTC Income Calculation Activity (PDF).  Return to this page to check your answers.

Question 1.

End the LTC income calculation for April (the month services are ending) because Marie is SIS-EW and has a community spouse.  Use an MA Method B community income calculation (Age 65 or over basis of eligibility) beginning in May.

Question 2. 

End the LTC income calculation for February (the month before he is discharged from the LTCF) because Ray does not have a community spouse (his wife receives EW services).  Use the most appropriate community income calculation based on his basis of eligibility beginning in March, even though he was discharged on the last day of the month.

Question 3. 

End the LTC income calculation for September (the month before services are ending) because Robert does not have a community spouse and will not continue LTC services.  Use a community income calculation beginning in October.

Question 4. 

End the LTC income calculation for August, the month of Sally’s death.

Question 5. 

End the LTC income calculation for January (the month before the month of discharge from the LTCF) because he is single and will continue to receive LTC services through the CADI waiver after discharge. Use an MA Method ABD community income calculation beginning in February.

Question 6. 

End the LTC income calculation for November (the month LTC services end) because Ahmed has a community spouse.  Use an MA Method ABD community income calculation beginning in December.
