Process Steps 1 and 2 - Gather and Evaluate Expenses

We have already discussed the first two steps of the medical expense deduction process.

  1. Send the Medical Care Received (DHS-6059A) form to a client requesting MA-LTC who will be using an LTC income calculation. 
  1. Upon return of the DHS-6059A evaluate the reported expenses to determine if each expense meets all of the conditions to allow the expense as a deduction.

As part of this step you may need to send the Proof of Medical Need (DHS-6112) form to verify medical necessity.
