• Rent.
• Mortgage principal and interest payments (including second mortgages).
• Real estate taxes (if not included in mortgage payment).
• Homeowner’s or renter’s insurance (if not included in mortgage payment).
• Required maintenance charges for a cooperative or condominium.
• Utility costs. Use either:
• The Utility Allowance if the community spouse pays for heating/cooling.
• Use the Electricity and/or Telephone Allowances if community spouse does not pay for heating/cooling, but is responsible for electricity and/or telephone expenses.

Note: When a community spouse resides in a residential living arrangement, such as a GRH or a housing with services establishment, only allow the cost for rent or maintenance charges.  Do not allow the portion paid for services received by the client.
