Step 5 - Determine the Monthly Income Allowance
The next step is to determine the monthly income allowance by comparing the monthly maintenance need to the maximum monthly income allowance.
The maximum monthly income allowance is updated annually and is found in Appendix F of the EPM.
- If the calculated monthly maintenance need is less than the maximum allowance, the monthly income allowance is the monthly maintenance need.
- If the monthly maintenance need is equal to or greater than the maximum allowance, the monthly income allowance is the maximum allowance figure from Appendix F.
